“Hemming” in Metal Fabrication
Hemming is a method used in metal fabrication during forming. In the two-step process, the edge of the material is folded over and then flattened onto itself. Hems can be used for a number of reasons. Typically used to improve the appearance of a part, reinforce an edge, or to eliminate the sharp edge of the material. Common applications include parts with a hand-hold, items that are located in high traffic areas, or locations where vulnerable objects (wiring, hoses, tubes, etc.) may rub up against the edge of the material and become damaged. Trumpf Punch Cluster Tool
What do you do when your punched parts need thousands of holes? You use a cluster tool on our Trumpf TruPunch 5000 of course! Instead of punching individual holes, the tool pictured can punch (12) holes simultaneously. Cluster punching is more efficient, reduces cost, and helps reduce wear & tear on the equipment. There are numerous other features available with punching as well (including louvers, embossments, tapping, plus much more – VIDEO). Nitrogen Generator is LIVE!
We took delivery on some new equipment just over two weeks ago (See Post). As of today, our new High Purity Nitrogen Generator is LIVE! We are starting a new chapter at LJ Fabricators and now producing our own unlimited supply of Nitrogen with purity levels up to 99.999%. Previously, our fiber lasers cut with the assistance of either Oxygen or Nitrogen gas. We now have the capability to cut with Oxygen, Nitrogen, mixed gas, or shop-air. Another Quality Project
It’s amazing what a quality high-speed fiber laser is capable of. This particular project had extensive individual cuts so piercing speed was very important. The material pictured is 1/2″ 304 Stainless Steel and was programmed and run on our 10K Bystronic Fiber Laser. On the close-up shot, you can clearly see the cut quality on the inside edge of the parts. We cleaned up the surface of the material, but the inside edges are untouched. FABTECH Trip
LJ Fabricators had an awesome day in Chicago yesterday. As a company, we attended #FABTECH2021 (North America’s largest metal forming, fabrication, welding, and finishing event). Quite an experience to to see all the latest technology under one roof. A special thanks to LJ Fab management for hosting/sponsoring the entire day (breakfast, transportation, event tickets, lunch, and the evening was topped off with steak dinner & dessert). It was a great day for some education, good food & camaraderie. We look forward to having you VISIT so you can experience our culture and see first hand why we love metal fabrication. Patriot Day 2021
Hard to believe that Saturday, September 11th, 2021 marks twenty years since 9/11. Most of us can recall exactly where we were when we learned of the attacks. May we never forget that day. A day of remembrance for the 2,977 killed in the attacks and for all those who gave their lives because of that day.
